| The coarstest belt for sharpening |

The first belt I use when sharpening is blaze(plus) 80 grit. Sometimes I use blaze 60 grit.
It's because, when I have to repair wide bevel(e.g. japanese sushi knife, meat slicer blade, zero convex edge, scandi edge), it takes very long time. I always use slack belt and the direction is edge trailing.
Then I switch it to 120 grit before it makes burr. Do you think is 60~80 grit is too coarse for sharpening?
What is your the coarstest belt for sharpening?

I got out my new 60x kingmas viewer and looked at my Excel razor...both a used one and a new one......I wish i could post images for you all to see!
This lead me to a 30 min journey on the internet to find that people actually STROP their used blades......someone built a handsome denim box.....someone uses green compound on a peice of plastic.....and a company in the UK makes a silicone pad and some magic sauce to sell as a Razor strop to save you hundreds of dollars per year!
Here is the link:
https://www.razorpit.com/
Has anyone on here that lives for a sharp blade done an investigation?
Can you really do much more than clean out the crud?
Have you done it yourself??......What really works well?
I go thru alot of blades, so this sort of thing appeals to me.
I would also like to dissect a blade, and test it but doubt I could pull it off as those little blades are so delicate.

I was shopping Amazon for 1x42 belts yesterday, when I came across an abrasive company I haven't even heard of. Reminds me of Klingspoor, in that they make their own belts.
Seems like they have practically anything a guy could ask for. If they don't have what you you're looking for in stock, they'll make it and still get it to you within a couple days... for Free. They actually seem to be teaming up with Amazon, and you can open an account with your Amazon credentials, and use your Amazon credit cards.
Please Take Heed:
When you follow this link, there will be a "15% off your first order" pop up offer. Write that promo code down, put it on your clipboard, whatever. I just copied it and lost it by the time I needed it.
Red Label Abrasives
I ordered some of their ceramic belts, some Deerfos ceramic and other SC 1x42 belts suggested by our friend, Mr Sharpco.

Hi Guys.....
My PT50B arrived yesterday......and my Kingmas 60x scope just came now!
Thank you all for the great suggestions.....Im having fun sharpening and looking!
I am looking for some input though.......Razor edge paper wheels.....I found a distributor here in Canada, so 2 10" wheels next....slotted ones correct??
What about diamond compound? see lots of stuff in syringes....but Mr. KG's video shows a paste in a small tub......and how do you load a virgin wheel?
I am going from the standard SG-250 Tormek wheel, to the paper.....so recommendations on the grit size too would be most welcome based on your experiences.
Thank you , Thank you!

| Rental Knife Options |

Hello Again Forum!
Hoping i put this in the right place......I am curious about those of you that offer a rental knife program.
In a nearly Perfect world, I would think many would pick a brand name, high quality blade......not too hard, but of reasonable quality.
In one post I read about the Lasting Cut product.....seemed like a great price......but was unable to locate a supplier.
What options have you found/used???
In my area ( the Greater Toronto Area) we have a major player, that supplies cheap custom branded knives, that probably get a quick pass on a Conzinni, before being sent out again. I once gave my 4 Stars to them ( long before i got the bug) and they butchered them!!!
So, strictly as an investigation on economics, what has worked.
My baseline for a rental program in my area ( my local pub) is 6 knives per week, at $17 / week ......so even the cheapest Henckel Pro V would be a $120/set investment.......
Thank you so much for all the information and help this forum has done for me!
Sam
