Compound Questions
#1
last week i ordered a few needed belts from Trugrit and i was running low on white compound so i decided to try their brand (JacksonLea).  everything came in today, so i had a good number of knives to sharpen today and i broke out this new white compound.

must be some really great stuff.  i left it sitting on top of my table while i when to the store (45mins) came back and 1 of my 2 dogs had it in the yard and 50% gone........i called Trugrit to find out what it was made of and guy said he would fine out from Osborne if they were open, but they had closed.

it seems it is mostly tallow and abrasive.........internet said many dogs have done the same.......no problems........ they have never messed with any other compound before.

comments please

Jacksonlea appears to be a subsidiary of Jason, Inc. and somehow related to a company called Osborn.

As far as I can tell those blocks aren’t particularly hazardous. The closest MSDS (safety data sheet) I could find is:
https://www.osborn.com/media/msds/pdf/47012.PDF

Jason, INC says they maintain a MSDS on all of their products.  I’m sure they could answer any questions you may have.

I suspect all is well, but if you are at all concerned call a vet especially if your pooch seems to be feeling poorly.

Are his teeth looking any whiter?

Hello,
Please advise which item you have and we will supply you with an SDS.  Our chemist suggest you consult with a vet.

We're hound dog fans at my house as well Max. Here's a picture of the newest arrival (Nelson) due to move in mid February. Look at the intelligent face and inquisitive eyes. Clearly - a genius. Our dogs have always preferred chair legs and shoes to sharpening supplies. Maybe Nelson will break the mold though.

Mr Nelson looks to be a fine fellow for sure....

shoes i can relate to as well and i have 2 dogs and 3 cats, one of which is a kinda wild feral cat we caught in a trap about 10 years ago.  he now has become somewhat domesticated to a SMALL degree, maybe the next 10 years he will be.

please keep us posted on Nelson

Will do Max. Just can't decide right now if he looks more like a physicist or a biochemist. Time will tell.
