Or are you going to have to kill me after you tell me? I've never used my Bridgeport on a blade, but I always use it to mill the slot on hilts. I just don't make many knives with hilts that aren't custom orders, because mine are always through tangs, and pretty expensive. I have one on order to be finished in 7 weeks. Over $3k. I grind everything free hand. I'm used to grinding swedges, which is what I think you're speaking of. The bevel on the front of the blade, right? Perfectly flat, uniform swedges stand out, because it's Way easier to just blend them in. Mr. Grepper, I never keep track of time. It's just a distraction from the objective. It's kind of tricky to start with a blade like that. The steel was pretty hard, and I took a Lot off, so that takes time. Might have been an hour or so.

Scotty on StarTrek might say, "The right tool for the right job," I would add, "and the right craftsman, too". Well done, Mark.

Thanks Mark for the explanation. I'm still in awe of how it turned out even after you explained it.

A complete transformation. Excellent work, and very generous to give that much time to the owner. You have as good as 'made' that knife.

Thank you to subwoofer in the UK for joining us here on the BESS Exchange and for posting. Subwoofer is a very respected reviewer of knives on both his and our side of the pond. Subwoofer would like to make edge sharpness tests part of his knife reviews and we've been trying to figure out how best to facilitate his needs. So welcome to subwoofer and very much looking forward to hearing more!

I've seen SubWoofers reviews on knives before. He does a nice job. I'm not a big expensive knife guy but enjoy reading about them. I hope that he posts reviews here because they are very interesting to read. So welcome SubWoofer!
