Sharpening methods differ so drastically depending on the steel and hardness that I would be lost in confusion if asked to sharpen it.

I like the idea of BESS testing. Repeatable and not as subjective
as "cuts newsprint like ice through a cow" and Scary Sharp.
Part of my competition background is Land Speed Racing,
where we drive cars or motorcycles as fast as we can, and
compare best speeds. We compete at various distances,
since acceleration is usually a factor.
My personal best motorcycle speed is 251mph over a mile,
and my on-board data showed 253mph before I
could get the throttle closed after the finish line.
I am also a competition swimmer, so yes, the time matters.
NOT subjective, like platform diving or ballroom dancing......
Which is why I like the BESS concept - no adjectives,
no appearance points, no favoritism.
Just the winning number, please...........
