Hey guys, I thought I would share an upgrade I just did on my Viel 1x42. I’ve always had a little trouble with the belt tracking on the Viel. The two screws on the top of the mast arm work fine for controlling the top of the idler pulley yoke, but there’s nothing to control the bottom of the yoke from flopping around inside the tube. So I decided to drill and tap two additional holes down 2 1/2” from the top of the tube. Now the belts track perfectly every time, because the yoke is now held in a perfect upright position. And of course you can still remove and install the belts easily. I’ll send pictures if I can figure out how to attach them.

Garry,
Welcome to the exchange. Good idea for the Viel! There is always room for more good ideas.
Keep thinking and keep posting.

Welcome Ordener! If you would like help with posting pictures to the Exchange there are a couple of ways to skin that cat. Do the pictures that you would like to post currently reside on your computer?

They’re on my phone. This is the first time I’ve posted on the exchange. I want to post the pictures. There’s three of them.

The pictures are on my phone. Can I send them from my phone? I tried to, but it didn’t seem to work. Don’t see them showing up anywhere.

Mr. Ordener,
Are you trying to post from your phone or from a computer?
Can you save the images on your phone to your computer?

Mark,
I like The idea of a second set of stabilizing bolts. My first Viel has tracked perfectly from first assembly, with only slight initial tweaking of the two screws. My second Viel has been somewhat tempermental. I finally got it tracking well with a layer of masking tape on one side. I think Garry's idea might prove useful with this Viel
