Tupperware knives?
#11
Jeez Mr. Grepper, where did you find this treasure? Beside the fountain of youth?

You may jolly well have found something pretty rare!

I mean other than a knife you can get pretty sharp...

I am outing myself as the owner of the mystery knives Shy

I lived in Okinawa Japan for 20 years.  I got married there in 1995 and soon after my wife bought a lot of stuff from Tupperware.  In those days it was known for selling high quality products.

In addition to the knives, we have 3 German pressure cookers and several stainless steel frying pans we still use regularly.

The link below shows that the knives are still available - be ready for the sticker shock.  I just did the yen->dollar calculation at today's rate.  The large one goes for $171.00 and the one Grepper sharpened is $116.00.

I guess the price isn't so bad considering she has been using them daily for twenty+ years.  Albeit, not nearly as sharp as they are now.

Thanks for sharing the story Mr. Ed. Smile   I can't believe you actually found it and that it is still available after 20+ years.

It seemed like a very nice blade.  You mentioned your goniometer reflected that I had sharpened it @ 16.5 dps, and even at that acute angle with a 150 grit belt it took a fine edge without chipping and deburred easily.  I'm sure it's a joy to use and easily good for another 20 years.

I recall a comment James Beard made in one of his books. He stated that one should treat his knives at least as well as the good silver; they are at least as valuable.  The Tupperware knives examplify this.

Good topic.
