Sharpen to 120 grit?
#5
I looked into diamond belts a while back. Most diamond belts are fine grit and I'm looking for 150 grit or less... 120 grit.  That 120 grit made me happy. Smile

A did find one 1x42, ~120 grit diamond belt for $195.00!   I can go through a lot of zirc and ceramic belts for that price, and while I've never used one I'm sure that diamond belts wear out too.  $195.00 is too pricey for just one belt for me.

Ceramics seem to work OK.  Maybe all I need to do is jam a hard hunk of steel against the platen every so often to fracture the abrasive and refresh the belt.

I really enjoyed the edge created by 120 grit.  Very sharp and nice and toothy.  Thanks again for that suggestion.

For some reason I was always under the impression that a coarse ground edge would not be as sharp as a finer edge.  Apparently I was laboring a delusion!  110g sharp is plenty, if not too sharp for my purposes.  The 120 grit grind made that edge quickly and it was gloriously toothy without jumping through any hoops.  I mean, other than switching to leather for deburring, I didn't even have to switch belts.  One belt, very sharp, very quickly and exquisitely toothy.  What more could you ask?

But wait!  That's not all!  If you call within the next 10 minutes, we'll throw in this 5,000 piece Sharpco knife set that never needs sharpening!  Need more?  If you are one of the the first 10 callers...
