Thanks for the additional info Max. The TAS arm definitely looks much thicker and sturdier. The arms are for sale on the Wolff site, but I just had a closer look and it says "Available as exchange only with existing arm assembly from a machine with serial number. A $40.00 credit is available with the return of the 'worn' arm assembly." Maybe they don't like people using their arms on other machines like the Viel.
That rules about the TAS arm for me, so it looks like I'll give the Viel a try. I also have a Tormek and was initially going to order their scissor jig, but it sounds like it is too slow, which is usually the case with the Tormek.
