I have sharpened scissors on the Kally and it worked fine. Just use light pressure so you don't convex the edge.
I'm speaking of regular paper cutting/kitchen/general scissors, not salon scissors. Not those fancy convex, Japanese scissors. For some reason it seems that they are different, but I have no idea what all that means.
