That's not a knife. That's a knife.

Hello everyone. We just received information from our master distributor in Australia/New Zealand (KnifeGrinders) that the Adelaide Knife Show will be convening soon. If you're interested in seeing a preview of some of the beautiful work that will be seen at the Adelaide show,  please follow this link; https://www.facebook.com/theadelaideknifeshow/  There are some very talented people down in that corner of our world.

How about we all pitch in for gas money so that  our own Mark Reich with Reich Precision can travel to the show as our BESS Exchange representative?  Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from the Black Hills to Australia? We might have to come up with lunch money as well. Anyway, Mark would certainly give them all a run for their money with his beautiful knife creations.

One of our PT50As will, once again, be serving as judge for the sharpest knife competition at an international show. A big THANK YOU to KnifeGrinders and Australian Knife Magazine for organizing and sponsoring the competition.

Great movie. I hadn't thought about that one in a long time. Great pictures of knives on the Australian web site EOU provided a link for but I agree that Mark's stuff is as good or better. If he's looking for company on the trip, I'm calling shotgun.

Even if we do all pitch in for gas and lunch money, what about the long swim part? Are you up for a bit of a swim Mr. Mark?

Could be a problem. Guys from the Black Hills chop trees down and climb mountains. I don't know if they can swim. Missed Mark by an hour when he and his wife were visiting in Kansas and still mad about that.

Enjoyed Mr. Rupert's take on the movie and, as usual, he cut straight to the important part. I wish Mark would get on this thread and defend himself.

LOL!! Sorry for being late to the party, I actually have been working on knives all day, and I'm not done yet...

Thank thee very much who defend my honor in these critical times! Wow. I am humbly honored with the kind words.  Blush

May I say, I am super impressed with our new members from Down Under! Thank you so much for being here, and Congratulations for being the first to use BESS verification on a Commercial basis!

There are Outstanding knifemakers and bladesmiths down there, no doubt. I would Love to represent the tar out of BESSEX and EOU down there too!

Being a water bug all my life, I currently swim a mile in 50 minutes 3x/week. I'd have to come up with a better game plan to cross that stretch if I wanted to take a satchel of knives.   Wink

Great to hear from you Mark and sorry I missed you while you were in Kansas. I also apologize for underestimating your aquatic abilities. The last good swim I made was when my chest waders filled with water while retrieving duck decoys. Now I have to do the math: Distance (in miles from LA to Adelaide) x 50 minutes per mile and divided into the time left between now and the opening of Adelaide knife show. Could be tight.  I'll let you know if you should depart next month or last month.

Your category in this forum is the best IMHO. Keep it coming please.

Thanks so much for all the kind words, Mr Bubby! I'm sorry we missed each other at The Boar's Nest too, but I'll probably have the same itinerary next year, as long as Mr Mike plans to be in the kitchen! Annie and I really had a Great visit with our host, but we were a little squeezed for time.

I think I'm getting closer to having the software needed to post pictures directly to the Forum. Once I get it figured out I should be able to post straight off my picture taker, I think.

I'm most grateful for your interest in this category! I really like to visit about knife making and everything related, but I know a picture says much more than I can try to explain. I Will get this figured ASAP!

Thank you Mark. Next year we won't miss you on your trip to  Kansas. Yes, the "Boar's Nest". My wife and I have enjoyed a number of good steaks there. You didn't have the pleasure of knowing Mike's mom but I did. She was "salt of the earth" as we like to say here. I don't know if he told you the story but the name of Mike's place in Kansas comes from his mom and I don't think that he will mind if I share the story. Mike and his two brothers slept upstairs in the farm house on the home place.  Every time his mom would go upstairs she would complain that their rooms looked like a boar's nest. As you may have noticed, Mike keeps things pretty tidy now. She must have made an impression.

Thanks for the tribute to mom Bubby. As you can tell, the subject of this thread has wandered far from the Adelaide Knife Show but we'll take the blame for that. Thanks to Mark Reich for being a great guy and a good sport. This was good fun.
