RE: Woodworking Tool Sharpness Levels - joe1871 - 04-11-2020 Hey Folks, I don't have much to add to the conversation. I just purchased an EdgeOnUp PT50B. I am hoping to use it to "train" me on my Tormek and hand stone sharpening. I sharpen chisels (mostly high end Japanese chisels) and both western and Japanese plane blades. As you may know, Japanese plane blades present a unique challenge to sharpen, and frankly to use. I haven't really got there yet. I do have a good set of Lee Nielsen and Lee Valley planes and I am looking forward to testing my sharpening efficacy with the PT50B. Ken S. suggested I come over to this forum. Thank you Ken! Joe RE: Woodworking Tool Sharpness Levels - grepper - 04-11-2020 Welcome to the Exchange Joe! I'm sure you will enjoy your new PT50B. Not only is it a lot of fun, but also extremely informative. It's especially useful when trying to figure if what you are doing is working. Try something - take a measurement. Try something else - take another and so on. It let's you know what works and what does not. Keep us informed as to your progress! RE: Woodworking Tool Sharpness Levels - songshun - 08-16-2020 It sounds great. But I have a question. I am a new guy of woodworker. I wanna know what kind of material of cutting tool is the best. Best material will improve the efficiency dramatically. Pleasse give me some advice. Reallly appreciate. |
