I believe that even with the belt grinder, it is possible to minimize adverse effects with good technology. Very light pressure, faster passes, choice of belt, using slack belt and so on. And I think the hybrid method will be very efficient & safe solution, if there are severe damages on the edge or if the edge is very dull. Check the below videos.
