Question - MaxtheKnife - 02-22-2018 how many of you get text messages from people wanting to know if you sharpen knives and do you take credit cards? ........i reply yes now we have these jerks with 5 dozen knives.....scissors......serrated knives........ . most of the numbers come back to junk/spam outfit in ga......but not all. i got my 5th one tonight......here is the one i got a few mins ago. . . copy of texts. . RE: Question - grepper - 02-22-2018 Do you get these on you phone? Smacks of scam to me! What's with all the bizarre dollar amounts? It's hard to fathom the depth of stupidity of spammers and scammers. A while ago the Exchange was spammed with spam from the Russian Federation trying to sell Russian beach towels???? No doubt just phishing for credit card numbers, but that aside, who in the US would even be tempted to have beach towels sent from Russia? Seems about as reasonable as hocking bags of old Russian potatoes. Geeze. See what happens when you get rich and famous? I think I warned you not to do that. Max, your sharpening business has Always blown me away. You are obviously very adept with "people skills". Hell, even I think you're OK... All I can say is be careful. There are so many cyber criminals these days, and all they need to do is find one chink in your armor. I pay for good security, but I never get suspicious solicitations of any kind. For one thing, I feel very dubious of anyone without a decent command of the English language. Misspellings should never occur. Spellcheck either screams or corrects automatically. If someone can't capitalize and punctuate at a junior high level, &%$# 'em. Ask questions. What's your address and/or business name? Where did you hear of me? There are a bunch of innocent questions Genuine people will be happy to answer. One wrong answer, block the number. Google the phone number. Call them and see if you get an answer. Take care man. RE: Question - Edgepal - 02-23-2018 Well, now I know....
