This rubber wheel is impressive.
It polishes the blade very effectively. I think it could be used for sharpening.
However, it's hard to see anyone using rubber wheels for polishing or sharpening.
Do you know why?

Rubber could polish and clean the surface a bit and maybe even a bit of burnishing. It can bend flimsy burrs and assist in removing them. But, unless the wheel is abrasive impregnated or coated with special sauce it’s not going to sharpen, remove scratches or the tough base of a burr. For that, something like this would work:

Been using Rubber Wheels since 2013.
Two of them now have diamond grit glued on their rims, but the other ones are still oriiginal.

Well, from experience i know that the combination of diamond paste & oil on Paper Wheels can work very well.
Have never tried to put diamond paste on a Rubber Wheel, but my guess would be that the paste would not stick too well to the surface.
Glued diamond grit on a Rubber Wheel however works very well and with good longevity, but the grit has to be used with a layer of wax on top of it, to protect both your knife edges as well as the diamond particles themselves from overheating.
